| Waiting for these fantastic talented stars was
worth it all. Present was Nitin, Aishwariya, Gurinder
Chadha and Martin Henderson. These talents from different
industries in the filmy world from Hollywood, Bollywood
and the British talent combined, you know its going
to be something big and something better for us to enjoy
on our seats for 2 hours full of laughter, colour, songs
and emotions.

All four of them introduced
themselves and the experiences they had with the outcome
they are now going to show in Bride and Prejudice previewing
on Monday the 4th October.

Gurinder - ‘In 1996
in was approached by a large bollywood star and Nitin
was part of that film too, but it came clear that they
work in a strictly work in an Indian production and
different from how we work. Various things happened
and financially money ran out. That’s how I learnt that
its not easy to start up a bollywood film. You have
to know and be very clear with what you are doing and
how your going to do it, and I didn’t bother with continuing
that one and continued with What’s Cooking in America.
Paul continued the script of Bride and Prejudice while
we was raising the money for Bend it like Beckham.

I didn’t really want
to make a film that would play to the pure typical Hindi
film audience because there’s enough people doing that
and are doing it very well such as Karan Johar and Aditya
Chopra and for me I had a different audience so I wanted
it to see it in the international perspective so I decided
to make a bollywood style/ British movie that will introduce
the Hindi film language to a global audience. And also
open up Indian films to the western media and make it
very clear that Bollywood is here and much biggest in
the film industry’.

Gurinder, when you were
writing the script of Bride and Prejudice was it intended
to have Aish, Nitin, Martin, Namrata etc?
Martin - ‘Yes’ (Everyone
laughs)
Gurinder - ‘This may sound very typical and filmish
but I honestly believe the casting process is just faith.
If they are destined for that role it will happen. It
always clicks with the right person and you know when
have that gut feeling. There are so many actors that
get signed or get the opportunity for a role but they
all seem to be the same. Im happy with the way Martin
portrayed his character on screen and brought that sensitivity
that I wasn’t expecting but got. With Aish, it’s the
first time she’s speaking in English in a film. When
she was working on her character and I heard her, I
was really shocked because I’ve never seen or heard
her or had seen her like that before which was really
surprising. So its really nice to see actors surprise
me and see what they are actually capable of doing.

Aishwariya, I suppose
your in the position to compare and contrast the western
side of bollywood and the Bollywood style Bollywood.

Aishwariya - ‘ I’m actually
sorry that gurinder actually did. (Gurinder laughs)
I have had a wonderful time working in the Indian film
industry and my experiences have been of course varied
but wonderful so far . My approach to my work isn’t
to make a comparison its really to experience each individual
one for what it is. Working with that film maker and
that unit, not minding of what region, which language
because the Hindi film industry is primarily known as
the Bollywood film industry but there are movies made
in other regions whether being Tamil or Bengali and
they are differently made from places like Mumbai. This
has been absolutely wonderful working with Gurinder,
yes new, yes different and yes individual and had been
overall fabulous.
