As we walked into the main hall we were greeted
by the staff of madam Tussauds with garlands (harr),
also serving snacks and drinks.
A live band was playing Indian music as people gathered
in the main hall to admire the stunningly dressed wax
figure of Ashwariya Rai in a red embroidered sari.
As the press and guests impatiently waited for the star
to come, we were entertained by the independence dance
group who done a smashing performance, dancing to a
few hit Indian songs. (Maahi ve – Kal ho na ho, Aisa
jaado – Khakhee, It’s magic – Koi mil gaya and Quawali
– Main hoon naa).
As this ended the presenter (Rico) introduced the morning
event in a very lively and welcoming manner.
A little more performancing took place before Rico introduced
and welcomed on stage the gorgeous Ashwariya Rai and
Gurinder Chadda ( producer of Bride and Prejudice)
Ash was dressed in a stunning red and black dress walked
in; she was shocked to see her wax figure for the first
time. She commented “wow, this is amazing, it’s really
stage seeing another me” laughing. “I didn’t know I
had a twin” with a puzzled face, turned to her mum,
screaming “mum”
Ash claimed she found it really weird as she was not
used to it and the clothing freaked her out. She was
asked if she would like any changes made to the wax
figure.
Her exact words were “none”
At this point the bollywood beginners were introduced;
they were given a thirty minute crash course in the
morning.
As the performance ended Ash and Gurinder were asked
more questions such as;
What did you think of the dance?
Ash: “it was really sweet!”
Would you offer them a job?
Gurinder: “most definitely”
What is the hardest thing in bollywood?
Ash: “nothing hard about it main aim is to let loose
and have lots of fun!”
Can you give us any trick of the trade?
Ash: “as I said before just have lots of fun, that’s
what it’s all about.”
Can you give us any tips Gurinder?
Gurinder: “just feel the moment and enjoy yourself.”
Ash: (added) have a free spirit!”
Rico ended the questioning by thanking everyone for
attending, as Ash got up and made her way to the wax
figure for pictures to be taken. She then gave the opportunity
to her fans for picture and autographs.
