Want
more money?
For
some people saving money is incredibly difficult.
With all the financial responsibilities of living
in today’s world, money can lead to many problems if
not managed properly.
Think about all the payments we make; mortgage
payments, utilities, car payments, groceries.
Everywhere we go there seems to be some sort of
transaction involved.
So among all these cash drains we experience, how
can we save money?
Here are a few very constructive suggestions.
1.
Don’t spend
It
is not as easy as it really looks, but a large
percentage of purchases are increasingly becoming
“impulse” purchases.
For instance you are standing at checkout and you
notice things that you like, not NEED, like so you
decide to buy it. This
leads to very bad spending habits.
An important rule of thumb is distinguishing
between WANT and NEED.
Do you NEED this? Do you WANT that? Try
packing your own lunch to work instead of rushing out
for takeout. Take
the train to work instead of your car.
Simple everyday things that you can avoid are a
good start.
2.
Savings Plan
This
is something that I myself am planning on implementing. You have a job and you make money. If it starts building up, you start thinking about things you
want. Talk
to your employer. Many
organizations offer financial products ie. bonds,
savings funds where a portion of your pay cheque
automatically gets deposited into a separate financial
account. Give
it a few years and watch it grow.
You’ll be surprised!
3.
Discounts and Bargains
Why
pay full price for something when you can get it for
LESS? Yes,
look out for bargains.
They are everywhere, you just have to know where
and when to look. Keep
your eyes and ears sharp!
Gas these days is getting expensive so people
have become very price sensitive to fuel.
If you notice the price for gas is low, fill up.
Try to avoid filling up at high prices of course.
And if the price is high, try only filling up
what you need for your trip.
It goes a long way!
Also keep an eye out in flyers and newspapers if
you need something.
Look for specials and discounted items.
Make valuable use of loyalty programs and
premiums!
