‘ King of Kings - The Return of the King ’
: : : : : : : : :

Harm, Me and Amar all met in Leicester for about 9.p.m. We met at my friend’s halls where I was getting ready. After I got ready Harm told me that he had the DesiDesi T-Shirts on and that we were all going to wear them so I had to get changed again. I must say they looked stunning.

From my mates halls we went to the Venue, which was the Zanzibar Night Club. As we approached the club we could see people arriving in their cars, Limousines and we even saw a group of people coming out of a Hummer Limousine. As we walked into the club we had to get our Access All Area Passes. Once we got our passes we walked into the 1st room, which was a meeting room where people were meeting their mates. The room had sofas and a water fountain in the middle of it so people could chill out and relax.

From here Me, Harm and Amar walked into the main room where DJ Stin was on the decks already mixing up the latest Bhangra and R & B tunes. People were already dancing on the dance floor. By this time there was a rush of people coming in.

By about 10.30.p.m. Me, Harm and Amar walked around the club we went to the V.I.P section which was located at the back of the Venue and up the stairs where there was private seating and a private bar, we also went downstairs to the R&B, Hip-Hop and Dance room. We did not stay in this room too long as a fight broke out and the crowd was looking a little rowdy.

From here we came back into the Bhangra Room where just in time we were on the stage with our video camera and our digital camera for the 1st act of the night. Dips Bhamra the host of the night came out and introduced the 1st act. They are legends and they are still going strong, he called out the icons of the Bhangra Industry it was Apna Sangeet. They started off the night with their live band singing their Anthem of their years Apna Sangeet Vaje Apna Sangeet. Then they went on to sing other famous songs like Nach Payan Mutiyaran and Mera yaar Vajayi Dhol. Throughout their whole performance they had the crowd singing along and dancing. Even they had their Bhangra routines on stage while they were singing and I must say I don’t see that a lot, Bhangra Artist dancing while they sing. But the legends blessed the stage and I must say from a personal opinion the other acts were going to have a hard time to beating that performance.

Dips Bhamra came running out and called back on the decks DJ Stin, the crowd was still alive and kicking and dancing while Stin was scratching the latest beats. As he was on the decks Me, Harm and Amar went backstage, where we bumped into Des-C form the Mentor Kolecktiv Camp. We were talking to him about his album and upcoming releases. Then after talking to him we went back on to the main stage and Dips Bhamra came out to introduce the next act, and this was the lone ranger Jassi Sidhu. The reason why I say lone ranger is because he is not with B21 no more. Anyway back to the night he was with his live band and he came out in his casual but smart outfit, which was jeans, with a white top and his black waistcoat on the top. He started off with the famous song form his album Reality Check which was Amani Ama, and then he went on to sing Dil Manghthi, Tappe and Putt Jatt Thaa. He had the crowd going and the girls were certainly screaming for him.

After Jassi Sidhu, Dips Bhamra came back out and asked the crowd if they were enjoying themselves and they did give him a good cheer, so that shows they were all having a good night.

By this time the arena was so full that the barricades that was at the main stage were bent forward. The security guards and even myself had to push the barricades back otherwise if it had collapsed the people at the front would of injured themselves.

So back to the main stage it was time for the next act, and the next act on stage was DCS with the lead singer Shin, as you all should know. They had the crowd going and I even I thought DCS were a good contender for beating Apna Sangeet at having the best performance of the night. So they started off with their live band where Shin started singing his old anthem Tenu Kaul Ke Shaarab, and you had to be there I saw three quarters of the crowd holding their glasses up to this while they were dancing. From their new album they did Pillade Pillade (Qwali Style) it sounded brilliant and they also sang Bottliyan Sharab Diya. To finish off Shin called out Juggy D from the back and they sang their duet song O Meri Jaan. We all thought that was it but Shin walked back up to the mic and said hold on hold on I haven’t finished yet. He paused and then he said “ If You Punjabi And You Know It Clap Your Hands”. Everyone was clapping their hands and they all knew he was doing the Skit from his new album. Shin told the Dhol to play the beat and he was singing “ If You Punjabi And You Know It Clap Your Hands”. It was absolutely amazing that everyone was clapping their hands. But still personal opinion Apna Sangeet still owned the stage for best performance of the night.

Dips came back out and he started talking to the crowd. Then Stin came out and grabbed a mic they did a competition with the crowd. Dips had the ladies on his team and Stin had the lads on his team, it was to see which side could scream the loudest. 1st the girls went and as you know girls can scream their heads off, and so they did. Then it was the lads turn and come on be honest we got deep voices so its sounds more deeper then a high pitch girls scream anyway we let the girls win this one. After the little competition the next act was ready to bless the stage. So Dips called out, hold on lads be aware and please stay seated for this Dips called out the So Solid Crew, which was Romeo, Northstar and the stunning, beautiful and drop dead gorgeous Lisa Mafia. Romeo was wearing a all white Tuxedo with the white Hat, Northstar was dressed casually and Lisa Mafia was wearing a tight black Shirt with a Mini Denim Skirt. They kicked off the night by singing Romeo, So Solid Crew and to finish the sang 21 Seconds they had to cut it short because there was still some more acts to follow. But the crowd started cheering “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo” and the lads were cheering “Lisa, Lisa, Lisa”. Lisa went up to a few lads and touched their hands and on the other hand Romeo went up to one lucky girl and snogged her face off. They were stunned by the cheers that they got from the crowd I think they didn’t expect it from a all-Asian crowd.

Then the next act was ready to come on stage and Dips called him out, and he is the lady pleaser Juggy D. He came out with a burst singing Nahin Jeena, and then he sang Push It Up, he defiantly had the girls screaming for him in this song. After he sang these two songs Dips, Juggy D’s Dholi came out; he did his little Dhol intro. Then Juggy D took the Dhol off Dips, put it over his shoulders and started playing it. Juggy D wasn’t bad but then Dips grabbed the mic and told Juggy D straight he wasn’t going to have none of it and said to Juggy “Why Don’t You Stick To Singing, And You Can Give Me My Drum Back”. Then Juggy D ran off stage to get changed in the back while Dips did his Dhol routine, and he is one of the best Dholis I’ve seen. Juggy D came back out in his orange chadara and his black Adidas jacket with the orange chuni around his neck. Juggy calls this the Urban Desi look. Juggy D started singing boliyan to Dip’s Dhol where even a girl came from the crowd on stage to dance with him, she was good but obviously Juggy D was better. He defiantly had the crowd going and the girls were screaming for more.

From here Dips came back out and at this time the barricades were pushed forward again, so he told the crowd to move back or else they were going to shut the show down. The crowd finally moved back and then the next act was ready to come out. Dips called out the legend of Bhangra the main man him self Malkit Singh. Malkit came out in his all white chadara, kurtha and white matching pagg with gold sequins all over it. He kicked of by saying “Waheguru Ji Ka Kalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fatheh”. Then Malkit went on to sing his famous song Tutak Tutak Tutiyan Hey Jamalo. From here he sang other famous songs like Kuri Namar Jeh, Nachna Aaj Nachna and to finish off with he finished with his classic Mitthe Ganne. Malkit Singh got a big ovation for his set.

Finally we came to the last act of the night, and I must say I was waiting for this act because deep down I knew he would take the crown as having the best performance of the night. The main man the King Of Bhangra Of The 21st Century it was Lehmber Hussainpuri. Lehmber came on stage and he had the whole of the crowd going they were screaming and shouting. They even over powered his mic as he tried to talk. But then the crowd went silent and Lehmber shouted on the mic “Bollay Sohni Hall Sat Sri Akaal”, and the whole crowd shouted it with him. So Lehmber got on the mic and started off with Chalakiyan, then he went on to do his famous song Das Ja. While he was singing this song a girl from the crowd came on stage to dance with him but she got denied because he wasn’t taking any notice of her. Then Lehmber started to sing Sadi Gali, Panj Bindiya and the famous Sachiyaan Suniyaan Ni, where I had the privilege to video record him and even get a photo taken with him while dancing with him. He finished off the night with a brand new exclusive form his upcoming album a Boli. People its one to look out for.

That was the end of the night as Dips came out and told everyone to leave the venue. Just a quick note throughout the whole night Me, Harm and Amar were taking photos of the crowd, artists and we were even taking video coverage and handing out flyers. So we hope you enjoy this.

All in all the night was brilliant, I have even heard talks of another King Of Kings Gig so from myself and the Desi Desi team we hope to see you there.
