Hangover Help!

So you had an amazing time out on the tiles
last night – unfortunately a little too good,
and now you have to get yourself into work/university
without throwing up on your travels in and
make it through the day whilst feeling positively
miserable. How to avoid the outcome? The obvious
answer is to not drink too much in the first
place!
Make sure you eat something before you start
drinking. If you consume alcohol on an empty
stomach, the alcohol will affect you much
quicker and you could end up slurring your
words quicker than you though you would and
not being able to control your behaviour.
Also, on an empty stomach you’re more likely
to drink much more quickly.
Alternate your alcoholic drink with a glass
of water – this will keep you fresh and also
happens to cut down on the old calories too!
Don’t give in to friends trying to force
drinks on you – pace yourself by taking small
sips. Always accept or put ice in your drinks
as this will help to keep it cool, and lengthens
the time for your enjoyment of the drink.
If you’re drinking in rounds, this can mean
you end up drinking more than you’re meant
to/able to. Choose to not do that and drink
at a pace that you’re able to.
Avoid snacking on salty foods such as nuts,
olives, crisps as these make you thirstier.
…Of course if this advice is coming a bit
too late for you, these little tips will help
you look and feel loads better in the morning…
The main causes of that hung-over feeling
is dehydration, so make sure you’re drinking
plenty of water throughout the day.
Did you know that alcohol destroys vitamin
C and vitamin B complex? Well it does, and
so one of those well-known fizzy vitamin supplements
in a glass of water might help!
If you’re able to, avoid a greasy fry-up
as this will just overload your liver. A better
breakfast options is beans on toast, as beans
are high in protein and release sugar into
your blood slowly, thus helping you to recover
steadily.
An alternative to beans on toast is to have
a bowl of porridge with some sliced banana.
The banana will slowly raise your blood sugar
levels whilst the porridge oats acts upon
the acidity in your body from the alcohol
and neutralises it. If you are feeling too
nauseated for breakfast, then take crystallised
ginger to relieve nausea. Ginger also can
help to stimulate the appetite which the alcohol
in your system is stopping.
If you can’t face food, you could get your
body active and sweat the alcohol out of your
system! If this is sounding like torture in
itself then opt for the other option of just
having a lovely hot bath instead and sweat
it out that way!
