You’ve seen Raghav and
The Rishi Rich project hitting it in the UK charts showing
the Brit’s we are not only good at being lawyers and
doctors. Not only that, we need an Asian female artist
to smash through all this and there actually is one
who is doing that now.
Mera Veda has already
done well for herself in the US and Canada and now brings
her music and herself to the UK at the NEC Mela performing
live.
I got a chance to chat
to her and find out the inside story about herself and
her success she wants to tag with her.
How long have
you been in this industry then?
About 3 years now.
When did you
realise that, yeah singing is what I want do?
I didn’t happen, it sort of happened to me. Everyone
kept telling me that this is something that I should
be doing and it just hit me that its getting beyond
my control because things just happened so fast and
I just went along with it. I even got a chance to sing
with Michael Jackson, which was an opportunity that
just came and I didn’t want to miss.
I was just laughing
cause appantly my manager is related to Jay Sean and
now its like ‘Hello’ how often can you just get a chance
like that, being in the same studio as the Rishi Rich
Project.
So basically
you haven’t actually struggled, everything’s just been
there on a plate for you right?
That is it and I have realised that this is what I’m
supposed to do and if your struggling to do something
else it just puts you down or sometimes you want to
give up. I’m really feeling great because I’m working
with so many people and its like ‘woah’ for me. It was
difficult for my parents because they wanted me to be
this sweet and simple girl who would make there dreams
come true by becoming a doctor or a lawyer., but they
have got used to it all now and are happy with what
I have achieved.
If you didn’t
pick this as your career, what would you be doing?
I’d be an author or writing poetry.
Do you actually
write your own music as well?
Yeah I write my own music, I produce because its very
important to me to make it something my own. I listen
to my own music and when I do I feels good that its
all my efforts and its my work.
In the near future
would you start on writing novels?
In the future yeah, because it looks silly if I started
singing years later. I went into the music industry
first and have so many ideas that I want to put in one
as a whole. I want to concentrate on my music now and
later years to come I’l be moving on to writing novels.
